Diet myths busted
There are plenty of weight loss diet myths. We heard it all again and
again. Does it mean they are real? For instance is it good for
your body to cut sugar completely? Or fat or alcohool? How many
people can give up on these just like that? Is it wrong to have
them every once in a while?
The
main purpose of a diet is to eat food that contains less
calories than your body spend to maintain your current weight.
If you can do it then your body will have to use the accumulated
fat to make up for the energy needed. A diet must be tasty and
nutritionally sound. If not then sooner or later you will fall
back on the old eating habits and your weight loss efforts will
be lost just like that.
Meal replacements are not a great idea. Products like Slimfast,
Eat-Smart are just low fat and high protein combinations and
cannot replace a proper diet. Cutting calories on long term is a
big mistake. The body needs them so these meal replacements
shouldn't be used more than 4 weeks in a row. Using them for a
couple of weeks should be fine. The same principles are true for
single food diets. Diet myths...
From Hollywood emerged another weight loss myth : the belief
that a low-carb high-protein diet is ideal to lose weight. Most
movie stars are on this type of diet. This diet it is low on
calories and carbs. Therefore your body will use the
carbohydrates from your muscles and liver! The weight loss will
come from the water in your body and not from the fat! Not to
mention the stress on the internal organs. Diet myths...
Potatoes : another scary word for most people wanting to lose
weight. the fact of the matter is that potatoes are the main
source of carbs are good for you. Eating moderate amounts of
potatoes will make you fill full quickly and will not provide an
excessive amount of calories. Just pay attention to the way they
are cooked and avoid butter and sauces as they are very high in
fat. Diet myths...
Drink water! Keeps your body hydrated and your stomach full
helps your intestines healthy. But just drinking water doesn't
mean weight loss. The only real way to lose weight is to burn
fat. And drinking water won't do that.
Another weight loss urban legend sais fat is bad for you! That
is completely wrong. Your body needs fat to process vitamins A, D, E,
K. Fat provides omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Fat is essential
because these components have to be in your body. The daily fat
dose is recommended to be about 35% of your daily calories. Diet myths...
Last but not least there is the belief that diet itself is
enough to lose weight. The truth is diet must be done along with
exercises as the most efficient way to burn fat. A food rich
diet combined with exercising is a lot more efficient and
healthier that just
sitting at your desk and following a low fat diet. Don't just
listen to diet myths.
Try to understand and judge for yurself before making any decision.
