Food Addiction From time to time we all crave a type of food or just something to eat. Not because you are hungry or because is dinner time but just because you are bored or you see a TV commercial. We all do it, its just natural.
Some people are addicted to food! As strange as is sounds it is true. Food addiction signs? Well sometimes is not that obvious what the reason may be as there are many factors that can determine it. You may be depressed or suffer an emotional breakdown and become careless with your eating habits. Before you know it you will pile up extra pounds.
Some foods make people addictive! That's right, you prefer certain foods you can become addictive to them!
Coffee
No surprise here! If this is your every morning habit you know what I am talking about! Personally I have two mugs by 8:30AM!!! Them I get a couple more during the day. Is that bad? Different people have different needs. For instance I tried to give up cigarettes and coffee about eight years ago. And for a while I did. I got sick once and I just couldn't recover. I went to see a doctor and after taking my blood pressure she asked me if I drink coffee. I said "No" and immediately she said "You should!” And so I start drinking coffee again. Once because I love it and second because even my doctor said I need it.
Sugar
Here is another addictive energy booster we enjoy even since we are kids. Sugar its hard to avoid and can only cut the daily intake to a minimum necessary. Sugar helps but not if it’s taken in bulk from candies, chocolate, sodas.
Carbs
There is a lot of controversy over carbs addiction. Split opinions with valid arguments on both sides. Bottom line, best thing to do is to avoid excessive eating of pasta and bread. Don't compare carbs addiction with drugs addiction! It is not even close to be like that. Many people are addicted to carbs without even knowing it. They just found normal to eat a lot of pastries!
You have a food addiction. Now what ?
Any addiction can be controlled function of the individual will power. Some people have no problem adjusting to a healthy diet, some people can only do it for a limited period of time and for others it’s just a hell to keep up with good eating habits.
Either way the best idea is to talk to your doctor about it. Be open and the doctor will at least put you on the right direction so your efforts will pay off. He can recommend a therapist, a support group for people with food addiction. You can find support group online free of charge and very helpful and informative. See what other people like you are going through, what treatments work for them, what are the results.

Controlling your food addiction is a great step towards controlling your weight!
